How do I schedule my first appointment?

Start by requesting an appointment on our website or giving us a call. We'll set up your patient portal, send over your intake forms and consents. Once those are completed, we will secure your appointment date and time with a $150 deposit. We only hold your spot for 48 hours while you wrap up the paperwork—so the sooner you complete it, the sooner you're on the books.

What do I need to complete before my visit?

You'll fill out your health history, current medications, and a few consents through our patient portal. This lets us hit the ground running when we meet—we can review your records ahead of time and spend your appointment actually talking, not doing paperwork.

I'm an existing patient—how do I schedule?

Log into your Charm patient portal or just give us a call. Your portal also gives you 24/7 access to lab results, messages, and upcoming appointments.

How do I get my medical records to you?

You can email them, upload through the patient portal, or we can request them from your previous providers directly—whatever's easiest for you.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations may incur a fee. Life happens—just let us know as soon as you can.

How far out are you booking?

New patient appointments are usually 2-6 weeks out. We recommend scheduling your follow-up before you leave so you can secure your preferred time.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first visit is about 60-90 minutes. You'll start with our medical assistant for vitals and the initial intake, then your provider joins to dig into your health history, talk through what's going on, and map out a plan. Since your paperwork is done ahead of time, we're prepped and ready to focus on you. Most people leave with lab orders and a follow-up scheduled.

What makes VIMC different?

Time, mostly. You get up to 90 minutes with us instead of the 15 minutes you'd get elsewhere. We're not rushing through a checklist—we're actually listening, asking questions, and connecting the dots. We combine advanced testing with treatments that make sense for your body, not cookie-cutter protocols.

What's the difference between integrative and functional medicine?

They're cousins. Both focus on root causes, not just symptoms. Functional medicine leans heavily on lab diagnostics. Integrative medicine does that too, but pulls from a wider toolkit—botanicals, nutrition, lifestyle, mind-body work, and yes, pharmaceuticals when they're the right call.

What is a naturopathic doctor?

A naturopathic doctor (NMD) completes a four-year graduate medical program focused on treating root causes using both natural and conventional approaches. In Arizona, NMDs are licensed physicians with full prescriptive authority—they can write prescriptions, order imaging, and do everything a conventional doctor does, with additional training in nutrition, botanicals, and lifestyle medicine.

Do you treat acute stuff, or just chronic issues?

Both. If you're an established patient and get sick, we've got you—infections, seasonal illness, whatever comes up. Our main focus is long-term optimization, but there's real value in seeing someone who actually knows your health history when you're under the weather.

Do you see men and women?

Yes! We work with adults of all genders. However, at this time, the providers at this office do not specialize in transgender hormone optimization.

How do follow-ups work?

When you schedule your labs, we'll also schedule your follow-up, so it's already on the books when your results are ready. How often you come in after that depends on what we're working on—your provider will talk through the right cadence for you.

What kinds of things do you help with?

Hormone imbalances, thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue, metabolism and weight concerns, gut/digestive problems, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue, brain fog. Basically, we help people who know something's off but haven't gotten answers. We dig into the why, not just the what.

What if I have a bunch of different issues?

Most people who come to us do. We'll start with your top 2-3 concerns so we can build a plan that's actually actionable. The good news? A lot of symptoms are connected. When we address the root cause, multiple things often improve together.

How often will I need to come in?

In the beginning, usually every 4-8 weeks while we're dialing things in. Once you're stable and feeling good, most people shift to quarterly or twice-a-year visits to stay on track.

Will you talk to my other doctors?

Absolutely. We're happy to coordinate with your PCP, specialists, whoever. We'll send records and notes with your permission so everyone's on the same page.

Can I keep seeing my regular doctor too?

Of course. A lot of our patients keep their PCP for routine stuff and work with us for the deeper dive. We can be your primary provider or a complement to your existing team—whatever setup works for you.

What kind of labs do you run?

We go beyond standard bloodwork. Depending on what's going on, we might order advanced hormone panels, full thyroid workups with antibodies, metabolic markers, micronutrient testing, food sensitivities, gut health assessments—whatever gives us the clearest picture of what's happening in your body.

Can I use insurance for labs?

Sometimes. Standard bloodwork can often go through your insurance at a contracted lab. Specialty testing is usually out-of-pocket. We'll always talk through costs before ordering anything so there are no surprises.

How do I see my results?

Results show up in your patient portal once your provider has reviewed them. When you schedule your labs, we also schedule your follow-up, so by the time results are in, you've already got time on the books to go over what everything means and what to do about it.

Why do you run more labs than my regular doctor?

Standard panels often miss early warning signs. By the time conventional markers look "abnormal," things have usually been off for years. We test more thoroughly so we can catch patterns early and intervene before symptoms get worse.

Can I bring labs I've already had done?

Please do. We'll review what you have and figure out what else we need. If your labs are recent and comprehensive, we might not need much more. If there are gaps, we'll fill them in.

How much do labs cost?

It varies widely depending on what we're testing. A basic hormone panel might be $150-400, while comprehensive specialty testing can be $400+. We'll always discuss costs before ordering so you can make informed decisions.

Can I order labs without being a patient?

We require at least an initial consultation before ordering labs. Testing without context doesn't help anyone—we need to understand your health picture to order the right tests and interpret them properly.

Do you offer at-home test kits?

Yes, for certain specialty tests like gut health panels, food sensitivity testing, and some hormone assessments. We'll ship the kit directly to you with instructions.

What is bioidentical hormone therapy?

Bioidentical hormones are identical to what your body makes naturally—same molecular structure. Unlike synthetic hormones, your body recognizes them and processes them through normal pathways. We customize your dosing based on labs and how you're actually feeling, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

What's peptide therapy?

Peptides are small chains of amino acids that tell your body to do specific things: repair tissue, boost immune function, improve metabolism, sharpen cognition. We choose peptides based on your goals and what your body needs.

How do you approach weight loss?

We look at what's making weight loss hard in the first place: hormones, insulin resistance, thyroid function, stress. Sometimes that means GLP-1 medications, sometimes it's addressing underlying imbalances, usually it's a combination. We're after sustainable results, not a quick fix that rebounds.

Do you prescribe medications?

Yes. We have full prescriptive authority in Arizona. We use pharmaceuticals when they're the right tool, often alongside natural therapies. The goal is what works best with the fewest downsides.

Is this stuff evidence-based?

Yes. We stay on top of the research and use therapies that have solid evidence behind them. We're also upfront about what the science shows and what it doesn't so you can make informed decisions.

What's the difference between bioidentical and synthetic hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are structurally identical to the hormones your body produces naturally. Synthetic hormones have different molecular structures. Your body recognizes and metabolizes bioidentical hormones through normal pathways, which many patients find results in fewer side effects.

How do you monitor hormone therapy?

Creams, gels, pellets, injections, troches (dissolving lozenges), and capsules. We'll recommend the delivery method that makes sense for your hormone type, lifestyle, and preferences.

Is hormone therapy safe long-term?

With proper monitoring, bioidentical hormone therapy can be used safely for many years. We track your labs, adjust dosing, and stay current on research to ensure your protocol remains appropriate. The goal is to optimize your levels, not push them beyond normal ranges.

Will I be on hormones forever?

Not necessarily. Some patients use hormone therapy during a specific life stage (post partum, for example) and eventually taper off. Others benefit from long-term optimization. We'll discuss your options and preferences as your body and goals evolve.

Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Wegovy?

Yes. We prescribe GLP-1 medications and their compounded equivalents when appropriate, along with other prescription options for weight loss. But we don't just hand you a prescription—we also address the metabolic, hormonal, and lifestyle factors that make weight loss difficult in the first place.

How is your approach different from weight loss clinics?

We dig into why you're struggling—thyroid function, insulin resistance, hormone imbalances, cortisol, inflammation. A prescription might help you lose weight, but if we don't address what's driving the problem, it often comes back. We want sustainable results, not a quick fix.

What if GLP-1 medications aren't right for me?

There are other options: other prescription medications, peptides, metabolic optimization, and targeted lifestyle interventions. Not everyone needs or wants GLP-1s, and we'll find what works for your body and situation.

Do you require a specific diet?

We'll recommend nutrition strategies that support your goals, but we don't push rigid meal plans that aren't sustainable. The best approach is one you can actually maintain long-term.

What aesthetic treatments do you offer?

Neurotoxins like Botox, dermal fillers, PRP, PRF and other medical-grade treatments. Our philosophy is natural-looking results—enhancing what you have, not changing who you are.

Can I just come in for aesthetics?

Absolutely. You don't need to be a medical patient to book aesthetic services. We'll do a consultation, talk about your goals, and create a plan that makes sense for you.

Can I combine aesthetics with other appointments?

Often, yes. Many patients knock out Botox while they're in for an IV, hormone pellet or follow-up. We'll help you figure out the best timing.

How long do results last?

Neurotoxins typically last 3-4 months. Fillers depend on the type and where they're placed—anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. We'll give you a realistic timeline during your consultation.

What's different about getting aesthetics here vs. a med spa?

We see the whole picture. Your provider understands how your hormones, nutrition, and internal health affect your skin and aging. That means better recommendations and results that last—not just surface-level fixes.

Does Botox hurt?

Most people describe it as a quick pinch. We use very fine needles and can apply numbing cream if you're concerned. The whole treatment takes about 15 minutes.

When will I see results from fillers?

Immediately—though there may be some initial swelling that settles over 1-2 weeks. Final results are visible once swelling resolves.

How do I prepare for PRP or PRF treatments?

Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) for about a week before treatment if possible. Come well-hydrated for the best blood draw.

What's the difference between PRP and EZGel PRF?

Both use your own blood, but they're processed differently. PRP is a liquid concentration of platelets. EZGel PRF combines your platelet-rich fibrin with albumin to create a gel that can add volume like a filler—but it's 100% your own biological material.

How long does an IV take?

Most infusions run 45-60 minutes. NAD+ takes longer—usually 1-5 hours—because we infuse it slowly for best results and comfort. You'll be relaxed and monitored the whole time.

How often should I do IV therapy?

It depends on your goals. Some people come weekly during a health push or recovery period, others maintain monthly sessions. We'll recommend a schedule based on what you're trying to achieve.

Is it safe?

Very, when done properly. We use pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, screen your health before treatment, and monitor you throughout. This isn't a pop-up IV bar, it's medical care.

Can I go back to work after?

Yep. Most people feel great—often better than when they walked in. NAD+ and iron can occasionally make you a little tired initially, but most people report more energy and mental clarity.

What should I eat or drink before my IV?

Come hydrated and having eaten something—low blood sugar and dehydration can make the infusion less comfortable. Avoid alcohol the night before.

Can I get an IV if I'm sick?

Yes—that's actually a great time for immune support or hydration IVs. Let us know your symptoms when you arrive so we can adjust if needed.

Do you offer IV packages or memberships?

Yes. Ask our team about package pricing for multiple infusions—it's more cost-effective if you plan to come regularly.

What peptides do you prescribe?

We offer a range of peptides based on your specific needs—from BPC-157 for tissue repair, to growth hormone secretagogues like sermorelin, to metabolic peptides like semaglutide and tirzepatide. We'll recommend specific peptides based on your labs, health history, and goals.

Are peptides safe?

When prescribed by a physician and sourced from accredited compounding pharmacies, peptides have excellent safety profiles. We monitor your response throughout treatment and adjust protocols as needed. This isn't something you should DIY from online sources—medical oversight matters.

How are peptides administered?

Most peptides are self-administered via small subcutaneous injections, similar to insulin. We'll teach you the technique at your first visit. Some peptides are available as nasal sprays or oral formulations.

How long until I see results from peptides?

It depends on the peptide and your goals. Some patients notice improvements in sleep and recovery within days. Body composition changes and tissue healing typically take 4-8 weeks. We'll set realistic expectations based on your protocol.

What do visits cost?

New patient visits are $500 for up to 90 minutes—that includes your full consultation, exam, and treatment plan.

Follow-ups can range from $125-$400 based on complexity and total time spent. Once you're established, annual visits are $250, acute visits are $125, and lab reviews are $195. Labs and treatments are separate.

How often will I have an appointment?

Typical intervals between visits are about 4-16 weeks depending on the complexity of the treatment plan and if a patient is newly starting a protocol or on maintenance.

Why don't you take insurance?

Because we wanted to actually practice medicine. Insurance models give you 7-15 minutes with a doctor and a mountain of paperwork. We chose a different path so we can spend real time with you, order the labs that matter, and recommend what actually works—not just what's covered.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes! We accept HSA and FSA cards for all services.

Can I submit to my insurance for reimbursement?

We give you detailed, coded invoices that you can submit for reimbursement. Whether you get anything back depends on your plan. We always say it’s worth checking with your insurer ahead of time.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Credit cards, debit cards, HSA/FSA, and cash. Payment is due at time of service.

How soon will I see results?

It depends on what we're working on. Some people feel different within a few weeks. Hormone optimization and deeper issues usually take 2-3 months to really show. We'll set realistic expectations so you know what to look for and when.

Do you do telehealth?

For follow-ups, yes—as long as you have a physical address in Arizona. First visits and annual exams need to be in person so we can do a proper evaluation.

Where are you located?

We're in Mesa at 1910 S Stapley Dr, Suite 120, inside Viva Medsuites. Easy parking. We see patients from all over the Phoenix area—Scottsdale, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler, you name it. We even have patients from out of state that snow-bird.

What are your hours?

Monday through Thursday, 8am to 5pm. Fridays, 8am to 4pm. Closed weekends.

How do I get in touch?

Call us at (480) 648-2353, email hello@vimcaz.com, or message through your patient portal if you're already a patient.

How do I know if integrative medicine is right for me?

If you're tired of the "your labs look fine" conversation when you know something's off... if you want someone who'll actually take time to figure out what's going on... if you're ready to invest in getting to the root of things instead of chasing symptoms—this is probably a good fit.

What if I don't see improvement?

We set realistic expectations from the start and track your progress with objective measures—not just what your labs show, but how you feel. If something isn't working, we adjust. This is integrative medicine, not a set-it-and-forget-it approach.
